Fix One Scene Without Regenerating the Whole Video

One wrong clip is 8% of a video. Regenerating to fix it costs 442 credits and re-rolls the other 92%. Replacing the scene and re-rendering costs 71. Here is what is swappable and what is not.

The moment this happens

The video comes back and one shot is wrong.

A stock clip that does not match what the narration says. A stat card with an awkward number. A scene that drags.

The instinct is to change the prompt and generate again. Almost always the wrong move.

You pay full price, wait the full time, and get a completely different video in which two new things are wrong.

Everything is built from separate parts. The parts can be replaced individually.

What you can change without regenerating

Any single clip or image can be swapped. Open the scene and replace it with a different search result, a stock clip, a generated image, or your own upload.

The narration timing does not move, because the audio is what everything else is timed against.

Generated images can be regenerated with a new prompt or replaced outright. The editor's image browser produces a fresh one at the playhead in about thirty seconds.

Music is a normal track on the timeline. Change it, adjust its volume, mute it.

Captions are editable in text, position and look. Trims let you tighten a scene that runs long. Thumbnails and metadata sit entirely outside the video and can be changed at any time.

What forces a bigger redo

A different script is not an edit.

Narration is the spine and everything is timed against it, so changing the words means re-timing everything after them. That is a regeneration.

Changing the voice for the whole video falls under the same rule. So does changing the length or the format, which is structural.

Which is the case for reading the script before generating. The cheapest possible moment to fix the angle is before a single second of audio exists.

What the two buttons actually cost

On the 10-minute project we timed, the bill broke down by step. 97 credits for footage search, 90 for narration, 80 for the plan. Then 71 for rendering, 48 for script and verification, and the rest in smaller lines.

Total 442.

Regenerating pays all of it again. Replacing a scene and re-rendering pays the rendering line, 71 credits, plus whatever the replacement image costs.

442 divided by 71 is a little over six.

The gamble hidden in "just regenerate it"

Here is the calculation that settles the question, and it is about probability rather than price.

A 10-minute video runs to roughly forty to fifty scenes at twelve to fifteen seconds each. Suppose five of them miss.

That is a ten percent miss rate, which is about normal for a prompt that was broadly right.

Regenerating does not fix those five scenes. It re-rolls all fifty.

If the miss rate produced five bad scenes the first time, the same rate produces about five the second time. A different five.

You spend twenty dollars, wait the full generation again, and arrive at a video with the same number of problems in unfamiliar places. Minus the forty-five scenes that worked.

That makes the rule arithmetic rather than taste. Flip the coin again only when the coin is the problem.

What the habit costs across a year

Now put the regenerate habit on a schedule.

Clearing the Partner Programme threshold before it doubles on 1 February 2027 takes roughly ninety-six videos. Four and a half a week from September. Eleven a week from December.

Each full rerun costs 371 credits more than a scene swap, and takes 43 minutes of machine time you have to wait out.

One rerun per video at four and a half a week is three hours of waiting. At eleven a week it is nearly eight.

Eight hours is a working day, spent watching progress bars produce videos you had already approved.

Every month you wait to build this habit costs you more of those hours, because the pace only goes up.

What the editor gives you

Here is what is in there, because it changes what counts as a problem.

The timeline holds every element separately: footage, narration, music, overlays, captions. Each is its own track, so adjusting one does not disturb the others.

The media browser searches stock and web imagery, accepts your own uploads, and has a Generate tab that produces a new AI image at the playhead in about thirty seconds.

That last one is the fastest fix for a scene where nothing found online quite matches what the narration describes.

Caption styling is global, so changing the look once applies across the video rather than scene by scene.

The order to fix things

Fix in this sequence, because each step changes what the later ones need to be.

1. Structure first. Cut anything that drags before you polish anything. A scene you are about to spend ten minutes on might not survive the edit.

2. Wrong visuals. Anything where the picture contradicts the narration. Viewers notice these, and a merely dull shot is far less damaging than a wrong one.

3. Dull visuals. Now upgrade the ones that are accurate but flat.

4. Audio balance. Music sitting too high under narration is the most common complaint, and one slider.

5. Captions, last, because trimming moves them.

Most people do this backwards, starting with captions and finishing with structure. Then they redo the caption work after every trim.

Two ways this goes wrong

The first is fixing the symptom rather than the cause. A scene feels wrong, so you swap the clip, and it still feels wrong.

Usually the visual is fine and the narration at that point is doing too much for any image to carry. That is a script fix, caught at review rather than in the editor.

The second is polishing before cutting. Ten minutes spent perfecting a scene you later remove.

Structure first. Always.

When starting over is right

Editing wins most of the time. Not all of it.

Regenerate when the angle is wrong, because if the video answers a different question than you wanted, no amount of clip-swapping saves it.

Regenerate when more than half the scenes miss. At that point you are rebuilding the video by hand, and the prompt was probably too vague to give the planner anything to work with.

Regenerate when the length is wrong for the subject. A five-minute treatment of something that needed fifteen cannot be stretched in the editor.

The tell is whether your list of fixes is about specific moments or about the whole thing. Specific moments, edit. Whole thing, rewrite the prompt.

Why editing is cheap here specifically

Built by hand, a researched ten-minute video runs 16 to 30 hours across five or six tools, and re-cutting one scene means reopening a project across several of them. That range is an estimate creators report, not something we timed.

What we did time is the pipeline: 65 minutes end to end, of which 22 minutes were human attention and 43 ran unattended.

Credits are consumed by what you actually generate, and they do not expire. The Newbie pack is $15 for 500 credits, so a first video and a few repairs fit inside it.

On a monthly plan, an afternoon of small fixes eats an allowance that resets whether you used it or not.

If you start a render and change your mind, aborting bills only the compute already used. Never the remainder.

The one thing we have not solved

There is a problem here we can name but not fix.

The regenerate button is the same button that produced the ninety percent you liked. So it feels like the safe move at exactly the moment it is the expensive one.

We do not know how to say that in the interface without it reading as talking you out of using the product. For now the honest answer lives in an article rather than in a tooltip.

The habit worth building

Watch the finished video once without touching anything. Note timestamps of what bothers you, then go and fix that list.

Editing while first watching means you spend twenty minutes perfecting scene three and never notice that scene eleven is the actual problem.

One pass to find the problems. One pass to fix them.

Make one and try breaking it. The editor is where you find out how much of the result you actually control.
